Summary of Julius Caesar
This drama is one of the great tragedy themed plays by William Shakespeare.
Julius Caesar is a highly ambitious political leader in Rome and his aim is to become dictator.
Caesar is warned that he must "beware the Ides of March”. The prophecy comes true and Caesar is
assassinated due to the plotting of Cassius and the somewhat indifferent Marcus Brutus.
The loyal friend of Julius Caesar, Mark Antony, provides the famous eulogy ("Friends, Romans, and
Countrymen…")
Brutus and Cassius meet their inevitable defeat which plunges the country into civil war.

Here in this new play young aspiring actors work alongside professionals to bring us a piece of
theatre that explores friendship, loyalty and rivalry. Full of energy, humour and pathos this play
has been devised by our youth theatre having studied Shakespeare's Julius Caesar. Darren Raymond,
Artistic Director of Intermission Theatre has taken their living language in an engaging way to
create an unmissable piece that Shakespeare himself would be proud of.
